Hugh Prichard, Board Chair
Hugh currently works with School District # 47 as the director of the Outdoor Learning Centre as well as managing other specialized programs targeting struggling teens. He has over 20 years of experience working with children and families across Canada. He has been an advocate for youth in Powell River since 1997 and was instrumental in establishing the Youth Advisory Committee and several Sliammon youth programs. He has extensive experience as both an administrator and a front line worker. Hugh is also the founding Director of Terracentric Adventures based in Lund.

Monty Tyrwhitt-Drake, Vice-Chair
Monty has been teaching in Powell River since 1989, in special education, primary, middle school and the alternate program. He has a BA in Classics from UVic as well as completing the Professional Development Program at SFU and a diploma in Mental Retardation from UBC. He previously worked in Saanich School District with youth, and with the Vancouver Community Living Association, as well as in Coquitlam School District. Monty has been involved with Powell River Parks & Wilderness Society as an executive member since its inception, focusing on protection of the environment. He enjoys singing in the Academy Chamber Choir, trying to maintain an unruly small garden, and hiking. Monty also likes to read a lot and follow political news around the world. Monty has been a Board member since June 2008.

Jim Erb, Secretary / Treasurer, is a ten-year resident of Powell River who has worked as a Christian minister for 60 years. He is now retired but still works with the local Food Bank and enjoys many opportunities for working with and supporting community initiatives in Powell River.

Ian Fleming, Director, is lawyer in Powell River who insists he is too busy for activities or special interests but can be found running, cycling and gardening when time allows. Ian is an active father in the lives of his two adult children and remembers his years of parenting young children with fondness.

Art Richards, Director, is a retired business person with a background in electronics and instrumentation. Art is new to the community of Powell River but brings a strong interest in community, ten years as a Cub Scout Leader, nine years as a soccer coach and many more years as the supportive spouse of Powell River’s MCFD Team Leader. Art has experience with and a passion for Restorative Justice, woodworking, writing, stained glass and playing the flute.

Mike Gormley, Director, retired from a long career with the Ministry of Children & Family Development and now works with Inclusion Powell River. He enjoys travelling, bee-keeping and boats. Someday he will take up writing again.
