Parenting

Powell River Child, Youth and Family Services Society offers many different programs for parents.

 

Foster Parents Support

  • Supports are available in order to sustain placements and enhance the caregiver's ability to deal with a variety of situations and behaviors when working with children.

 

Parenting After Separation

  • A three-hour information session for parents with the purpose of helping parents make informed choices about their separation which take into account the best interests of their children.

 

Parents Together

  • A mutual support/self help program for concerned parents who want to develop new skills that will help reduce conflict in their homes.

 

Parenting Wisely

  • A computer-based interactive parenting program that is proven to reduce child behavior problems, delinquency and substance abuse among adolescents, improve parenting knowledge and skills, and strengthen the relationship between child or adolescent and parent.

 

Parenting Without Power Struggles

  • A program for parents of pre-teens, providing support, information, and skill development.

 

Strengthening Families

  • A unique 14 week program for parents to participate with their children aged 6-11 years to help promote a positive family climate.
